Living with missing teeth can be daunting. Not only does it affect your appearance, but it causes difficulty in chewing, speaking, and other movements too. Dentures and partials are popular restorative options for your missing teeth. These treatments are comfortable and realistic-looking, offering a full-face restoration and improving your tooth functionality.
You may schedule an appointment with us to get this restoration. We will carry out your dental examination and decide if you need full or partial dentures.
Full dentures or complete dentures are recommended if all your teeth of the upper or lower jaw are missing. These dentures are available in two styles, namely conventional and immediate dentures.
We will attach conventional dentures within the first 8-12 weeks after removing your final teeth. They are less invasive, thus giving enough time for your gums to heal. Immediate dentures cut off the waiting period. They are ready for use as soon as you require them, as they do not include time for healing. Many patients prefer them over conventional dentures.
When opting for immediate dentures, we may schedule appointments for you a few times to readjust the dentures, as your gums and mouth may change their shape while healing.
We may recommend partials if you have a few remaining teeth in your jaw. They can be removed or fixed in place, depending upon your preference. Removable partial dentures remain in place with the help of metal frameworks and clasps. On the other hand, fixed partials remain in place with a dental bridge.
We place crowns over your healthy adjacent teeth, and they work as anchors for your prosthetic teeth. Fixed partials are a better option than removable ones as they preserve the structure of your mouth by taking up the vacant space.
Dentures and partials serve the same purpose—to replace missing teeth and support the structure of the mouth. While dentures and partials can be used to replace missing teeth, they do so much more than that.
When you get dentures, you must practice speaking and eating with them. This includes chewing on both sides of your mouth to keep your dentures balanced.
